Terms of Service
Last updated: October 2026
These terms govern your use of escapehtml.com (the "Site"). By using the Site you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the Site.
The tool this page covers is EscapeHTML, an HTML entity encoder and decoder. Put simply, it escapes text into HTML entities to prevent cross-site scripting and decodes entities back to plain text, with named, decimal and hex styles, and the way it does so is this: it escapes the five characters that change meaning in HTML — ampersand, angle brackets and both quote styles — and because decoding is single-pass, an escaped sequence like A resolves back to the literal text A rather than to A, which is exactly the behavior that keeps a second decode from turning sanitized input back into live markup. Everything stated here applies to that tool and the values it handles, and to nothing else.
Everything the tool works with — the text or entity string you paste — is handled locally. It is usually reached for things like checking whether a payload would survive one decode, and because nothing is transmitted a visitor can close the tab knowing no copy was made anywhere.
What this Site does
EscapeHTML offers an HTML entity encoder and decoder, free to use, together with supporting explanations. Every result is an estimate computed from what you supply, following the method set out on the page itself. Developer tools produce output for use in your own work, and you remain responsible for reviewing and testing it.
No advice relationship
Browsing or using escapehtml.com does not create a professional relationship, an advisory duty or any obligation on our part towards you.
Advertising and third-party links
Ads, served by outside networks, keep the Site free, and some pages link to third-party resources. We neither control nor vouch for external content. No advert affects any result.
Availability
The Site comes as it is, with no uptime guarantee. Tools and pages may be changed, suspended or withdrawn at any time.
Limitation of liability
As far as the law permits, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss and for any decision taken in reliance on a result from the Site.
Applicable law
The law that applies to these terms is that of the jurisdiction where the Site operator is established, ignoring conflict-of-law principles.
Using generated output
The output of these tools is meant to be inspected before it is used. You are responsible for checking that it suits your project and for testing it wherever it matters.
How accurate the results are
Correctness is a goal, not a warranty: results may contain errors and the content may lag changes in the field. Where the underlying method has a margin of error, read the output accordingly.
What you may and may not do
Use the Site freely for yourself or your work. What is not allowed: disrupting the service, scraping it hard enough to hurt performance for others, claiming it as your own, or any unlawful purpose.
Intellectual property
Unless credited otherwise, the Site's design, writing and code are ours or used under license. Linking to any page is welcome; copying large portions of the content needs our written consent.
